Ambassadors: Provides members the opportunity to make valuable business contacts, publicize their company, and receive added value for their membership investment through volunteer activities. Annual Chamber Gala: A prestigious dinner attended by Chamber members to celebrate the successes of the previous year, honor Gilmer County’s Citizen of the Year, and welcome new leadership. It is the Chamber’s largest event. Business After Hours: Gilmer County’s largest monthly networking event provides a way to meet new people, gather business ideas and network with fellow Chamber members. Citizen of the Year Award: The Gilmer County Chamber honors the Citizen of the Year with this special award, presented at the Chamber’s annual gala. Eggs & Issues Breakfasts: Meet local, state and national leaders and discuss area issues over breakfast. Drugs Don’t Work: This program offers a 7.5% discount on workers compensation coverage if your business participates. Georgia Work Ready Initiative: This voluntary program is in support of the Governor’s vision to link workforce development and education and align it with economic development of the state, its regions and communities. The Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce is spearheading the Work Ready Initiative in Gilmer County, in partnership with various groups, businesses and community-based organizations, to become a Certified Work Ready Community. Leadership Gilmer: Leadership Gilmer is a nearly year-long program that identifies and develops leaders by promoting community awareness, instilling civic responsibility, and building relationships. Class members learn to enhance their leadership skills in the areas of organizational and group dynamics, conflict mediation, communication, diversity, change management, and others. They gain knowledge and understanding on crucial issues facing our community, while also attaining the leadership skills to make a difference. In addition, they develop a network of relationships with other leaders of various backgrounds throughout Gilmer County. Lunch & Learn: Network Luncheons are held the 2nd Thursday of each month. Lunchtime seminars on a variety of business issues such as Health Insurance Issues for Small Business, Customer Service, and more. Members Online: Chamber members automatically become part of our online business directory, with company name, contact, address, phone, fax, e-mail, and Web site link. Network Luncheon: The Chamber's signature monthly event joins members together to obtain business leads, build relationships, educate, support professional development, and further community leadership. Sponsorship Opportunities: Increase business exposure through sponsorships of Chamber events and programs throughout the year. This support makes possible the many Chamber programs designed to support and strengthen small business and entrepreneurship in Gilmer County. Tourism Development: Tourism IS Economic Development. The Chamber actively promotes tourism through such methods as a Visitors Guide to Gilmer County and support of a variety of events. Our promotion, "Gilmer County-Georgia's Playground" and "Gilmer County-Destination Recreation," showcases our natural beauty and resources. As tourists come to play they also come to spend their money in our hotels, restaurants, and many retail shops. |
