Back to Nature in Ellijay, Georgia

We are all creatures of nature. We spend so much time cooped up in our homes, cars, and cubicles that we forget we need fresh air in our lungs, warm sun on our skin, and the sounds and splendor of Mother Nature around us.

We need to get lost and let our bodies and minds wander. And maybe a little adventure to jolt our senses? For all the above, look no further than the forests, rivers, and foothills of Gilmer County, where there are plenty of outdoor excursions to help us return to our natural state.

Mountain Biking

Of course, where there are mountain trails, there are mountain bikers- and Ellijay just so happens to be the Mountain Bike Capital of Georgia. Cartecay Bike Shop Brewery gives great trail recommendations and has a skills track in the back to help prepare riders before their excursion. Plus, they offer social rides on Saturdays!

Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp offers guidance, tech support, shuttle services, and recharging stations for peddlers on paths for every skill level. You can pedal across one of the most popular stretches of the Pinhoti Trail System with access to low-lying pastures, steep climbs to regal mountain overlooks, pulse-quickening descents into lush valleys, and ridge lines with views of the sunrise and sunset.
