If it’s rainy or hot outside, a little water or heat won’t dampen these activities. In downtown Ellijay, take time for some antique shopping around the square. Whether it’s vintage fashion, nostalgic collectibles, or home decor- or something else altogether- you’ll have fun hunting for treasures at Ellijay’s antique stores. These include Misty Hollow, Mountain Town Antiques, and Antiques on North Main. You never know what interesting finds will capture your attention.

History buffs should make their way to the Tabor House Museum just off the square in downtown Ellijay. Open from mid-March to mid-December each year, the museum is operated by the Gilmer County Historical Society. Housed in a 19870s Victorian-era reconstruction period home, the Tabor House is Ellijay’s oldest family home. It features exhibits and artifacts that detail the history and heritage of Gilmer County and the surrounding region. This includes Cherokee history, local history about early settlers, and military history including the Civil War.
