Important Candidates’ Forum Information & Questions
On Monday, April 22nd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm, the Gilmer Chamber will be hosting a Candidate Forum for Post 1 Commissioner, Gilmer County School Board, and Clerk of Superior Court Candidates. This will be held at the Piedmont Community Room, located at 824 Industrial Boulevard. The forum will proceed as follows:
Forum Structure
The evening will begin with a Meet and Greet portion from 6:00 to 6:30 pm.
The Post 1 Commissioner Candidates forum will begin at 6:30 pm. All candidates will have 2 minutes to introduce themselves at the beginning of each forum. 3 questions submitted by the public will be drawn at random and the same question will be given to each candidate with the order rotating. At the conclusion of the Post 1 Commissioner Candidates forum, each candidate will have 3 minutes to speak about the issues that matter to them and how they would serve if elected.
At the conclusion of the commission race forum, Clerk of Superior Court Candidates will have 2 minutes to introduce themselves at the beginning of each forum. 2 questions submitted by the public will be drawn at random and the same question will be given to each candidate with the order rotating. At the conclusion of the Clerk of Superior Court forum, each candidate will have 3 minutes to speak about the issues that matter to them and how they would serve if elected.
At the conclusion of the Clerk of Superior Court race forum, School Board Candidates will be given 2 minutes to introduce themselves as well. School Board Candidates in each race will then be asked 2 questions each. (Candidates in the school board races will only have to answer questions with their opponent.) Each candidate will have the opportunity to answer 1 question first and will rotate. At the conclusion of the School Board forum, candidates will also be given 3 minutes to speak about the issues that matter to them and how they would serve if elected.
